Dogs and Puppies

Our next breeding is planned for January 2025 - we will post the breeding announcement here and on our Mackinaw Llewellins Facebook page

Ryder X Filson Puppies

Born September 10, 2023

ALL PUPPIES FROM THIS LITTER ARE SOLD. Mackinaw’s Wind ‘Em Ryder was bred to Bimmer’s Riggsville Filson the week of July 10, 2023. Ryder’s puppies were born on September 10, 2023 and will be ready for their new homes around November 14th (we prefer the pups stay with their littermates until at least 9 weeks, preferably 10). Ryder had 4 females and 3 males, all very strong, healthy pups. We are excited about these little future bird dogs!

Mackinaw’s Wind’Em Ryder and family

Once a breeding is announced, if you are interested in a puppy, please download a puppy application from the link below and forward to mackllews@gmail.com. All of our puppies will receive their initial puppy vaccinations, worming (3, 5 and 7 weeks) and will have their dewclaws removed, along with a veterinary health certificate. Our puppies come with a one year health guarantee against genetic defects. Puppy selection is based on order of applications and deposits received.

We also implement the super puppy program for all of our puppies (Super Puppy Program Details) Our puppies are raised in our home and regularly handled, socialized (and CUDDLED) daily in order for them to have smooth and happy transition to their new families. We regularly post pictures, videos and schedule video calls with our buyers so they can watch the puppies grow and their personalities develop.

Mackinaw’s Wind ‘Em Ryder

Ryder is our Winnie X Obie chestnut tricolor girl who will be our next breeding female. Ryder is a natural retriever and has already hunted grouse, quail and chukar with outstanding results. Ryder has the sweet and loving temperament of her parents, but is all business in the bird field! We are very excited about her future! Ryder has been PennHip tested with excellent results and Embark DNA health tested (also with excellent results).

Bimmer’s Riggsville Filson

Owned and bred by Don Stacks, Cheboygan, MI

Filson is a beautiful Black and White Tricolor Llewellin. We have watched Filson grow from a pup into a beautiful adult, as well as watched his development into an outstanding bird dog having already proven himself on grouse, woodcock, pheasant and chukar. He comes from excellent bloodlines (see pedigree in link) and has the sweet, loving temperament that we require in any dog we breed to. We are waiting for all of his health checks to be completed, but expect great results as both his parents are OFA excellent. We expect some beautiful puppies from this breeding, with wonderful temperaments, high prey drive and outstanding hunting ability.

Obie

Mackinaw’s Wingswept Obadiah Dancer JH “Obie”

Obie is from Wingswept lines, bred by Deane Harris – who retired after over 50 years of breeding Llewellin setters. It was our wish to continue his legacy of these wonderful dogs, primarily for our own personal hunting dogs. Our setters are not only superb bird dogs, but extremely loving, energetic, intelligent family members.

Obie has points towards his Amateur Field Championship with multiple first placements in Open and Amateur Derby and Amateur Gun Dog, Obie also has his AKC junior hunter title. Obie is a superb bird dog and has hunted grouse and woodcock, quail, pheasant and chukar. Obie is sweet and loving with a gentle, easy going temperament.

Winnie

Mackinaw's Wind'Em Winnie SH

Winnie came from Blue Mountain Llewellins and has already earned her AKC Senior Hunter Title. She is a natural retriever and has proven herself to be an outstanding grouse and woodcock dog, in addition to quail, pheasant and chukar. Like Obie, Winnie is an outstanding bird dog and has hunted from the northern woods of Michigan to the southern quail forests of the southeast. Winnie has an extremely sweet and loving temperament.

Winnie is now enjoying her retirement from breeding and will focus strictly on bird hunting in the fall and “Living large” the rest of the year!
